charles bukowski wrote a better novel in "post office" than any one has ever written about working at a job ever. only studs terkel came close and all studs did was stick a microphone into interesting people's faces.

layne says he reads the la times but he lies. all writers lie. and the times is full of lies. the columnist who wrote about the atlantic monthly lied about reading the article too.

my problem with all these lies: only layne's is interesting. a lie about reading a newspaper. imagine that! biggest lie he told: that he only read five pages of Don Delillo's "Underworld."
